Get started by downloading a wallet.  Your wallet is used to send and receive Fractalcoin.

If your computer can’t open a .zip file, get 7-zip for free.

***Please Note:  Some browsers such as Google Chrome can interfere with downloads of this filetype.  If your browser won’t let you download the wallet or says it’s not safe, that’s a common error with Chrome when downloading Bitcoin or other cryptocoins.  Try using Internet Explorer or another browser to download the file.

If you have trouble connecting to the network, try downloading this file:

Peers.dat

After you add the peers.dat file, restart your wallet.  If you still have no connections, add this one:

Fractalcoin.conf

These files need to be placed in the folder appdata/roaming/Keycoin.  Scroll down for detailed instructions.

To speed up the first-time syncing process for a new wallet, you can download the blockchain here.  Downloading it through the wallet over the peer-to-peer network can take several hours, and this zipped file will also save you bandwidth.  (The compressed file here is 163mb, which cuts the size in half)

Fractalcoin Appdata folder including Blockchain as of 8/29/2015

If you’re having trouble, or are new to cryptocurrencies and don’t know where to start, bring any questions to the Fractalcoin topic at bitcointalk.org, or email us here at info@Fractalcoin.us

To add the peers.dat, .conf file, or the blockchain data downloaded from this page, follow these steps:

After you download the folder:  right-click the .zip file and select “extract all” (use 7-zip if your computer can’t extract).  The files you extract need to be in a folder named Fractalcoin, and you need to put that folder inside your computer’s Appdata/Roaming folder.

If you have already run Fractalcoin, there will already be a Fractalcoin folder at appdata/roaming.  If not, create the folder and drop the files into the Fractalcoin folder.  If you have already run the program, it will have created some of these files and you will replace them with the downloaded files.

This folder will also contain your wallet.dat which is created the first time you run Fractalcoin.  Do not delete your wallet.dat, because that contains your unique private keys.  Always backup your wallet.dat and keep it in a safe place, because without it you will lose your coins, or someone else can get your coins if they have your wallet.dat (Unless you encrypt it with a password, which you should).

To find your computer’s appdata folder:

– On Windows 8, right-click the start button and select “Run”, which will open the program called “Run”.
– (for Windows 7, left-click the start button and type “run” into “Search Programs and Files”, then click Run at the top of the list)
– In “Run”, type %appdata% and press Enter
– It will open the folder located at Appdata/Roaming;  open or create the Fractalcoin folder in Appdata/Roaming, put your files there, and start your wallet.
